About Athlete Anthem

Athlete Anthem is sports reporting the way it should be: focused on the athletes.

While there’s a place for game recaps, John Hollinger, and breakdowns, that’s not us. Athlete Anthem is less about ERAs and turnover differentials and more about the individuals who make sports worth watching.  Because, really, without them, we wouldn’t have Sunday Night Football, March Madness, the Masters, or the name Meta World Peace.

On this blog you will find player spotlights, the stories behind league rule changes, and a look at games from the point of view of the people playing them.

Everyone at Athlete Anthem is a proud sports enthusiast, with extensive experience as athletes, sports fans, and writers.  Here, it’s not about the teams and the games they play, but about the athletes.

    About the Writers:

Brooke Niemeyer-- With a background in sports reporting for a local TV station, Brooke looks past the games to follow the stories into the locker room, the preseason or the post-game report.

Porter Olson-- When he’s not on the greens at Coral Canyon, Porter is in the seats at Energy Solutions Arena. If you want to talk golf, the NBA or College Basketball he’s your man.

Adam Acosta-- Playing more sports than Bo Jackson, Adam knows what it takes to compete, professionally, having played soccer for both Real Salt Lake and the Charleston Battery.

Andy Johnson-- Living in the space where mountaineering and competitive sports intersect, Andy brings an understanding of endurance to our team.
